Annual Professionalism Lecture
The Annual Professionalism Lecture originated with the idea that medical students often lose sight of the bigger picture when studying the details of the physiology and pathology. This ceremony features a speaker who presents the human side of medicine and is meant to be thoughtful and inspiring. Past speakers have included:
Dr. David Satcher - U.S. Surgeon General under President Bill Clinton, and first African-American director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Dr. Abraham Verghese - Internist and author of The Tennis Partner
Dr. Troyen Brennan - Professor of Medicine, Law, and Public Health at Harvard University
Dr. Richard Selzer - Surgeon and author of Letters to a Young Doctor
The lecture is followed by a reception with plenty of tasty treats. |
