Before Year 1
Entering students matriculate on July 1 (students can start earlier to enhance their summer rotation, and will begin receiving stipend support as soon as they start). During the first summer, the entering student completes his or her first research rotation as well as the first segment of the medical curriculum.
Students accepted into the program begin by contacting a prospective rotation advisor, who must be an MSTP-approved mentor. A list of approved mentors is available here. After completing the rotation, a report is written and an evaluation of the student is filled out jointly by the student and advisor regarding the rotation and the student's potential for entering the lab for his or her PhD training. This record is submitted on the rotation evaluation form (Acrobat PDF) .
